I'm not sure how many of you actually make your own fonts....
but I'm a tad curious as to any feedback some of you may have on some of the "font creator" type programs that are always bouncing around the web...
What have you/are you using?... advantages/disadvantages??
What would you suggest?

I've created a few custom fonts for usage, and I must say that I still love Macromedia's Fontographer.

Letterforms are a hell of a lot of work at times, but really fun as well.

DG: Is fontographer a real large program?

Fontographer all the way. It's been around a long time without too many upgrades but can't
say as it needs to be.
Find it usefull for font conversion too, PC TT to Mac PS etc.

This is a good topic, I always wanted to how to make fonts.

The course I am on now at college I think has Fontographer some where on one computer, I think the teachers comp, but I have yet to get time to have a play with it (or ask the teacher if I can have a go). I want to know why there are no demos of it anywhere because I really want to have a go at making fonts.

There is others font creation software (look here) but everyone says try Fontographer... but there is no demos of it so I can't try it darn it .

I have tried High-Logic Font Creator but it was to much of a mess and at the time I did not know much about vector. So I gave up playing with it and married PS, hehe.

*Wonders off to grab a dome of High-Logic Font Creator again*

Michael: Thanks

I'm curious to know if anyone has tried Softy (the shareware font maker) - it seems to be an emerging trend that people just download the powerful expensive piece of software but, if it is any good, its worth promoting the reasonable price piece of sharware that can also get the job done.
