I was in Austin once when it rained. It was nice and warm, but WOW DID IT RAIN! It wasnt normal "get everything wet rain". It was "giant movie rain". When it rains in Texas it goes wild, its like a freaking monsoon. |

I don't know waht you'd call them over there in America, but here in Australia, we have the Ombudsmen, people who are there to handle complaints about specific thngs, like banks, Landlords, things like that. They take your complaint, then they invetigate it, and get you what you're due. Might want to try your equivilant of them. |

Yeah, we have the whole Ombudsman thing here in Sweden bigtime, (I think it's originally a scandinavian word?) I had some problems with my landlord once in Minneapolis, and did a check through the blue governement directory pages, and sure enough, we had one working there too! quote: If you can find one of these guys floating about somewhere in the beauracracy, it's worth giving them a call. The guy I hooked up with (he was the only one there) was bored out of his mind, nobody knew he existed. It also turneed up that he was an older guy who knew *everybody* who could get things done, years of government service, and he made thijngs happen for me, it was awesome! |

Well, thankfully, the office was open today (don't remember checking there on Saturday before) and I went by to let them know what was going on. The woman in charge told me she would try to get their roofer out today to take a look, but if not, then Monday. (He will sometimes come out on weekends, but this being a holiday weekend...) |

Ohmigosh, that's right, you're in Texas! How're you doing with all the rain there recently? I keep seeing scenes of homes washing away on CNN! Could you pass some of that wet stuff to San Diego? We just finished the driest year since records started being kept in 1850... |

I got back from a week in Austin last weekend, and the single most memorable event was seeing a bunch of branches & twigs, 20feet up, balancing off the side of a bridge, presumably left there by the last 'shower'. |
