Well most of us have web sites here that maybe we'd like to have promoted better. I have heard about google bombing here and again. How effective would it be to set a google bomb pool with everyone at that Asylum who would like to join. I am thinking it would involve a mutual swapping of links to their respective search names, yet I haven't a clue how it all really works. Is this possible...moral...even a good idea?

If someone gives me the run-down on it all, I'd be more than willing to set something up for this. Perhaps a site we can steer people to post their bomb requests and mutually grant others. Tell me what y'all think.

Check the FAQ's. It's all there.

Check this out for info on it.

I don't really see anything wrong with it. Some of the inmates here did it for the Asylum. Do a google search for "Mad Scientists" I think the Asylum is like #3 or something.

Basically, just have a the same word or phrase as a link. So everyone that would link to your site would all use the same thing. <a href="thumpershomepage.com">Google Bomb Word</a>

NoJive the FAQ really doesn't outline any process but the one they are using for Mad Scientists. What I am trying to convey is how feasible would it be for others here for us to setup something that is like a swapping station for our own Google-bomb projects.

I think this would help each other out with getting our names out better (for whatever sites you represent). I partook in the Asylum project, and saw what happened. How about we do this for everyone in the Asylum, perhaps requiring them all to include the "Mad Scientists" reference to their pages.

Can these links be placed on single hidden pages that have meta tags or do they ultimately need to be on "index" pages?

I am thinking that the structure of this hub system would give users the ability to submit what they'd like linked by others. They then must cut and paste a continually updated code that has those links from everyone else wishing to link into their web page(s), thus satisfying the agreement. Maybe somehow rigging a PHP interface to show exactly who has committed your requests. Does this sound too far fetched?

they just need to be on a page that a search engine can fnd, so something with meta tags would really help, I don't think it has to be the index page though.

Skaarjj, are you saying that if you had a page that laid dormant on a server which was not linked via buttons on a website that it would still be effective in a google-bomb?

hmmm...any page on your site can be found by a search engine, regardless of whether or not another page links to it. All it really relies on is that the page has meta keyword tags in it. Altohugh this is true in most cases, I think google may work on a different alogrithm, so don't quote me on this one.

Thumper: It is a good idea. It wouldn't exactly be a Google bomb but it would have Google Bomb principles behind it. This wouldn't be much more than what some of the inmates already do - that is link to each other's sites but this way you would strictly define the text of the link (or the 'hidden' text of a button - you would just use styles to give it a font-size of 0px; and set the text to display).

It is also important to link to the site (or better page) that links to yours so that the robots can find those links.

I can't see why this couldn't be co-ordinated through a subnode in the Google bomb FAQ - outline a set of rules, some tips (we could develop a style for the hidden button text so people can just drop the class into their pages) and then inmates add a few things:

Their name
The link formatted as they want it
The link to the page which links to all the others

The FAQ has search engine friendly links and has been indexed by Google a while back so the whole web of links would be hovered up from this page.

Thoughts?

Cool Emps...I am hitting the sack about know, but I would like to spell out a plan to everyone so that this could be set into motion. I should have this concept in the next day or two. Any assistance by fellow Asylumites is especially appreciated!

Well... I don't know if you come up with some sort of off the wall expression you'll prolly get a number one.

I have a site that goes by "Worthless Somethings" place that in your google search and I have #1 and #2...

It is pretty cool.
