Do you prefer the sound of drums or the sound of percussion ?
They are quite different.
Or, do you prefer listening to a music with a strong drums sequence or with a strong percussion sequence?
Or do you like most a drum arrangement or a percussion arrangement, in a music?
It's just like comparing a clarinet to a saxophone, etc...

By the way, I have no idea what is 'Gibson SG' or what is 'Epiphone Les Paul' (sorry, but I live in Brazil)...

It may be or it may not be.
Sometimes the guy at the drums plays also some percussion.
In most shows, though, one guy (or two, rarely) plays the drums and one (or two, rarely) play the percussion.
Drums IS a percussion instrument but normally it is treated apart.
That's how I understand "drums and percussion".

Q: What is the difference between "drums" and "percussion?"
A: In general, "drums" is the classic drum set; "percussion" is any number of Latin and African percussion instruments including bongos, conga drums, timbales, maracas and chimes. Ringo played "drums;" Sunny Ortiz plays "percussion." IMHO, it's the percussion that really adds color and excitement to KCSB music. Contrary to popular belief, both are "real" drums and both are very hard to play, so give the drummer and percussionist a big hand when you see them.

Taken from http://www.beckysisland.com/kcsbalbrevFAQ.html

Hill and Chudy also set the record straight as to the difference between drums and percussion.
?Drums are strictly a drum set where someone sits and has sticks,? Chudy said. ?Percussion can be congas, hand drums, bongos, timbales and Darbuka drums.?
