i need to transfer lots of files and directories to another server via ftp. but it seems as if the wildcard operator * does not work under unix basic ftp. any ideas?

Don't see why * shouldn't work.

it doesnt work when you are in ftp mode. try using it in your windows by typeing ftp on your command box.
