Preserved Topic: Bug in search results? (Page 1 of 1)

I was searching for a thread that was posted
some months ago.

I was looking for some great flash sites so
I used the search tool. Are results were
listed but if I klick a link there was just the
search site reopened not the link to the
post of.

Are I just too dumb for this forum ?

Heh, but I've seen that too from time to time. Some sort of UBB bug I believe, it happens whenever you try to go to a post that no longer exists (perhaps has been archived). It's a bug that it appears in your search results.

Nah, same happens to me, I think That is just that some of the threads where deleted with the big prune thing, and now they are not there. So, when you try to reach an inexistent page here at the asylum, the 404 page is the search page.

Heh, that sig I made like a year ago and just never made one since; and it shows up on the occasion when I forget to uncheck "show signature". =)

As scary as it might sound - I think Wakkos is right. I'm not sure about the specifics but if the thread has been moved, archived or deleted then it may still show up in a search. I usually find that if I search again in that forums archives the thread will pop up there - this has happened to me a lot recently which must be a good sign that things are being cleaned out and/or archived. Keep looking - if it is of any importance then it has probably been archived.

That is indeed the case. I remember asking the Doc this question many a year ago via email. I found it slightly annoying at first...but now...I just find it extremley annoying.

I'm due to upgrade my account soon, which ought to give me another 400MB of storage. This ought to give me the space to save quite a few more threads, I'm figuring. I'll probably also use this opportunity to do the switch to a PHP/MySQL board, as I'll need the space to run two distinct versions of the same forums for a few days at least. Might not be for a month yet, but it's coming.
