That being said, IQ tests mean diddly. Yeah, I'm a genius, too, according to my IQ (a pretty high genius, apparently). This still doesn't prevent me from doing amazingly stupid things on a daily basis. Also, an IQ does not mean that you will do well at university--I was on academic probation after my third semester, genius IQ and all.

Anyway, in my experience I've found that IQ scores have extremely little relevance to real life. But if it made you feel good, even for that brief moment, than it's a good thing. Just don't let it go to your head.

back on topic: Yea, I've seen countless numbers of those "IQ" tests. They're all full of it. I've made everything from 130's to 170's.

Mensa has stopped bothering me, apparently they deduct a few points for every time you're stupid enough to not respond immediately! ;-) My best friend growing up was severely dyslexic, his "IQ" scores all agreed, this guy was retarded. Funny, he beats me in chess regularly (and honestly, would beat me in nearly *any* game once we'd played 2-3 times.) Is he a genius, or a moron? I scored my highest ever on an IQ test (at Mensa, BTW) right after I spent weeks studying for my SAT's. This seemed to indicate to me that you can *study* for an IQ test. Which invalidates it as a test for aptitude, no? Still, scoring well on any test usually feels good, especially when they tell you it means you're special afterwards.

My wife could tell you stories about this Mensa member she works with who is so imcompetant that she's had re-training a half dozen times in the last 3 months.

I took the Mensa test a few years ago, passed it and signed up as a member for the sole purpose of teasing a not-so-good friend of mine who thought she was *oh-so-smart*.

Enabled me to show her my membership card and say: I'm smarter than you, and I've got the papers to prove it!

As for measuring intelligence, I'd say: Blah!

The Mensa test suited me since it was about seeing logical patterns in symbols. Redesign the test to use numbers instead and my brain would fry. So much for my sense of logic

Congrats InI, even if you're not interested in it, it's pretty cool to be approached like that! Personally I havn't done any IQ tests since the draft where I scored high enough to go on to a closer screening, never did find out how high that was though.

Everytime I hear about Mensa, I remember this thing I saw on TV a while back about this guy with an IQ close to 200, naturally he was a Mensa member and all that. The thing was that he couldn't socialise with "normal" (whatever that is) people at all... All he did was hang on the net discussing theories on the universe, all the time...

He claimed that he could not get enough feedback on his level from everyday people.
This makes sad and wondering if a very high IQ really is something to strive for?
I mean, what's the use to be smart as h*ll if you can't get along with people???
Personally I prefer the concept of EQ, how well do you get along with other people, seems like that's a more useful quality
