Preserved Topic: ICQ help =(

Well.. I just downloaded new ICQ 2002b (after reinstalling windows on my computer). I had old 2000b version and I backed up the whole directory. Now with this 2002 crap I lost all my contacts and have no clue how to get them back from my ICQ 2000b folder..

help??? I feel so lonely

Awwww bummer, did you save you contacts, you must have done if you backed up the whole dir of ICQ.

Right I assume have already installed ICQ (If you install it it asks you would you like import stuff of you old ICQ) , so do this:

Login
Go to advance (can't stand simple mode
My ICQ
Save / load contacts lists
Load contact list
and then go to your back up dir/contact list folder of ICQ 2000 and find the last auto save.clb (it has you ICQ no. / date / time as the file name) just load the most resent one.

The latest ICQ stores all you contacts on their server, which helps a lot in these types of cases.

Not download ICQ has adverts in chat window and top of the ICQ it self, which I hate!! So download ICQ PLUS, which is a skinning tool add-on and with the skins it hind the ads.

hehe....the old story about restoring
the contact list...hehe.

You have just to backUp your folder
which is the same name as your
installed ICQ version...thats all. In this
folder you'll find some temporary
files and the contact files...

So now you can them import easily by
the dbconverter.exe which is installed
with ICQ.
But I thought the newer versions of ICQ
backup your contact lists on a server
even like AIM does...?

hhhhmmmmm........ did anyone show up? Don't know why that worked with me .... oh try this:

Open the Auto Save.clb file in notepad and copy & paste the ICQ number to 'add' thingy, see if that works.

Eigh, don't feel too bad. I just installed Windows XP on my computer and I forgot to save all my emails. Hehe! Eigh, didn't wan't to keep any of them anyway.
