So I was over my illness enough to go to work tonight and by dinner time I was actually feeling good enough to eat a burger. But, I figured I should still take it slow and have myself a simple turkey sandwich. (Turkey + bread = sandwich.)

I went back to my apartment ? I only live 5 or 10 minutes from work ? and I arrived to find my window smashed in. Someone had broken it, reached in, undone the latches...but found they couldn't get it open. Why? Well, I put clamps on all the windows so a person couldn't do such a thing.

But, that was just too much for their ego, so they just kicked in the front door.

They stole my TV, my VCR, my DVD player, all my CDs and the few DVDs I had. They had stacked the stereo, but I guess something spooked the feral critters, because they took off without it.

It's funny; I hadn't even assessed the damage before I dashed back to my office to check on my computers. Everything was there, thank God. It was a smash and grab job; they just wanted the entertainment center, which can be replaced because I got renter's insurance just a few weeks ago.

The police agreed with me that it was almost certainly someone who lived in the complex. They knew me and my car and knew when I was going to work. Absolutely amazing these creatures ? they did it in broad daylight.

But, I'm not as upset as I thought I would be. Annoyed, yes. Incredibly inconvenienced ? I was going to take a little vacation this weekend, which I can't allow myself to do now. And I was hoping to have more time to get over my little gastointestinal festival before tackling a move.

I'm staying at my parents' place tonight until maintenance can do a more permanent job of fixing the door, hopefully tomorrow. (Emergency maintenance nailed it together and boarded up the window tonight.) I'll be looking for a new place tomorrow.

BTW, I hope everyone understands if I postpone any discussions I'm currently involved in. I was also hoping to get back to THE BOX after my vacation, but I hope everyone can understand if I put that in my pocket for a further while, also.

Thanks...

Dang, Wes, you're definitely at the bottom of the roller coaster right about now, aren't you? At least you're getting your health back, so that's a good thing, but getting robbed must suck. Sorry to hear about that.

Sorry about your recent experiences Wes....if you are in the bottom right now it will come back up again and I hope that you can get the people that did this to you. Good Luck and I hope things get better for you soon.

Peace

We have done so.

Sorry to here about that Wes.

I caught a virus earlier this year similar to your sickness. Had to live on Gatorade and Jello for a week. Been robbed twice before- both times during the work day. Now we have 90 lb. dog, best security you can have. Look on the bright side- you weren't there and you're insured. You can get yourself some new stuff.

I never had both things occur at once but it must suck. I hope your mini-vacation goes well.
Good luck here on out.

Wow man, what a drag. Not to trying to sound rude at all, but your story over the past few weeks (months if you start with the computer upgrade, I think) should, if nothing else, make the rest of us realize how many things we have to NOT complain about. Not to say Wes is complaining about all this. He's actually taking it a lot better than several people I know (including myself).

I really hope this is the bottom and everything starts looking up from here for ya.
Just remember this is all a part of the joy that's supposed to be life.

Someone in your complex, jees, thats probably the worst part. Anyway to rig a taser to the front door ? At least they didnt get your computer, I can understand why that would be the first place to look, it being probably the most expensive piece in your apartment and it has unreplacable work and it almost becomes like a pet.

If the cops agreed it was more tahn likely someone in your complex, is there anyway they could search one or two suspected appartments. Also with your appartment insurance, tell them there was a 150 dvd collection ! thats like an extra 2000, and it would be hard for them to prove you never had them given to you as gifts etc.. over a long time.

...except if he did get caught that would be insurance fraud which would likely end up in:
A) insurance doesn't pay for jack
B) our little Wesley goes to prison (which would be a much worse series of days...)
C) no insurer would likely ever take him as a client again.

But other than that, GREAT idea!!
