Cannot get into my computer. 'Standard CMOS set up' shows both Pri Master and Pri Slave not installed. Both are of course there. This all started this morning when I used 'Disk Cleanup' something I've done a thousand times before...but with only one eye open I inadvertantly ok'd delete system files... I think it was... anyway...
Autodetect can't find either C drive, I don't have the specs etc for c: which is a 4 gig partioned into c: & e: D:is 40 gig F: is CD.

OS Is WinMe

I can get as far as a c: but dir/w/p crashes with a couple of
'fatals;' "Rom DOS fatal stack overflow system halted" and the other is
"scanning system registry cannot create temp directory if you have HPFS NTFS>>bla bla...

Assistance greatly appreciated. I've managed to get on line via a completely haywired trashed laptop with no drives....and I'm connecting at a blazingly fast 26400

thanx folkds... will check back later.

Mmm... I love WIn2K

Do you have WinMe on one partion or does it share?
If its the only one why don't you reinstall?

Yes I'd consider that if I could actually get to a Hard drive <lol>

I've secured the technical data on the Hard drives from Fujitsu cylinders/heads/sectors and all that but when I enter those numbers via 'user defined' on the cmos it's still a no go.... Ideas???

You are probably looking at an issue outside of your OS.

Sounds like one of your HD's is hosed or the cable or your motherboard.
I'd double check all your HD connections as well as trying maybeone HD at time.

Stress mode off... at least for the moment. Seem to be back up and running. Justs kept entering the Haard drive specs into the cmos....over and over and over and ....you get the idea... finally they took....and for moment at least.... things seem to be ok. Now to go back and see for sure where this started.

Sounds to me like your master hard drive is fried. If there are any data on there that you really need I would back it up in a hurry and consider getting a new hard drive.

Good luck to you.

Thank you.. will do. I was noticing the specs on the fujitsu site that HD's (in general i suppose) will last about 500k hours of running... and that 4 gigger is likely getting close.
