Seems Petskull's keyboard got a little...shall we say..."damp". Half the keys don't work now. So he's pretty much offline till he gets a new kb.

Sucks to be him!

Let's make fun of him while he's not able to respond.....

Petskull - was it really water, or were you surfin those porn sites again?!!

I'm going to opt for the drool. I don't want to think about the "sticky" part.

Maybe it was beer? Again, I don't want to think about the sticky.

Gross guys!!

But that totally sucks. At work I pulled at a cord, which knocked over my glass of water, which in turn spilled over my whole keyboard. Of course, never having done this before I thought it would dry off and I'd be fine right? hehe. When I tried it again....lol. It was pretty funny what happened when I pressed different keys. All sorts of interesting results.

Geez..... I manage to keep my laptop alive during one of the most wicked violent thunderstorms we've ever had, and two simple drops of condensation from a glass of ice water trash my keyboard..

I haven't gotten a new keyboard for several reasons:

1. Futility
I surf(ed?) the Asylum on a Compaq Presario 1200T (I know, I know) with a busted Power supply (don't work unless plugged in, won't run on batt), a non-working CD drive (good thing I got that external CD-RW at the PX), a broken neck (the screen won't stay up 'cause the thingys broke, at home a prop it up with a metal bookend) a touchpad that gets funky when greasy and a discombobulated headphone jack.

Add to that, a newly psychadelic keyboard. The keys activate whatever characters they damn well please, except- of course- for the 'p', the 'o', the 'Home' & 'PGUP' 'the '9' and '0', the <BKSP> key and a shitload of other keys that refuse to misbehave- they'd rather just not work.

I'd rather not lug around a big keyboard with my laptop (which goes with me wherever I go) or pay to replace the keyboard on the lapjunk. For the following reason...

2. Dude, I wanna get a Dell
I was playing around with my friend's Inspiron the other day and the images flashed in my head when I realized that what wanted was a new computer. I wanted something small so I could whip it out and code when I wanted to, but a sweet Dell notebook would be a dream when I'm simply inspired to hit a little Half-life.

Unfortunately, they've discontinued their plan of accepting arms and legs so I may be faced with sending them actual money. And as right now I'm diving through the couch for the funds for a pack of cigarettes, it becomes obvious that I'm gonna hafta get off my ass and find me job.

So, I'm doing the resume thing. I'm just lobbing resumes at every open slot I can find. I went down the phone book through the IT sections ("Hey! That sounds cool. Hmm....... Hey! That sounds cool...").

I applied at this neato gig called Open Knowledge. They look really awesome and kinda exactly what I'd want to spend a good long time doing- and they're based in Puerto Rico, to boot! I didn't know cool jobs like this still existed. I'm actually kinda hoping I get this one.

I even applied at CISCO- I figured, "Why not? Hell, getting an interview at CISCO might in itself be good enough to put on a resume.."- I'm not waiting up for their call, though...

I figure I can save up for a sweet laptop and maybe get more of a taste of the field from a pure 'Application Coding' environment. Up to now, all the professional code I've done is for web and I think I might like the 'Regular Coding' route more, but to tell you the truth, I'm a little scared it might make me hate my hobby.

Hopefully, in a short time I might be able to get that Dell just the way it was intended by what my have been an-

3. Act of God
OK- 'God' aside (me and God aren't on speaking terms), I think this time away from my laptop might be good for me. All too often, when I boot up my laptop, I either keep playing with the last script I dropped or I come on here and hang wit' the loonies.

I think that now I finally have no excuse not to finish writing some of that 'Kon Tent' I hear some sites are famous for. I've got a lot of ideas, but I never sat down to polish them out because I'm always playing with some programming skit or something.

I also think that, since the touchpad still works on the laptop (As long as I swab it with alcohol every so often), I can still go ahead and work a lil' bit on my PS skills which have frankly gotten pretty shitty lately (yeah, watch me pretend that they weren't before).

What sucks is that I'm gonna be spending a lot less time here and less time (Read: none) coding. I'm gonna hafta take an extra ration of meds on my way across the moat. I'll be in here whenever I can spare a moment on a free computer (free as in free speech, not as in free beer)- such as now, by the way.

Oh, yeah, I added charmap to the startup menu of the Compaq and now it only takes me and hour to type out a sentence instead of the three it takes me to remember what each key is going to do.

...and about the sticky... um... no. Although, did anybody see that pic of Miss Tchernobyl 2002? It's pretty cute, I'll upload it when I get the chance...

{edit} Hmmm... I seem to have rambled... sorry about that. If you want to contact me, my email is etskull@nospam.twistedport.com">petskull@nospam.twistedport.com
