I've turned on web sharing in OS X but it does not work when I try to pull up any pages in a browser....anyone else run into this issue?

I use mine all the time and it works great. I even modify the config and restart it from the sharing prefs all the time. What happens when you try to view a page in a browser? It should at least show a default page. If you type in say http://127.0.0.1 or http://localhost it should give you the default apache page with a link to the manual. If you do the above URL with /~username then you get the X icon with a heading that says "Your Website Here".

If sharing isn't working at all then I daresay you installed something that screwed up your default Apache install config. I would check http://www.stepwise.com to see what it says about building Apache.

I figured it out....we use a proxy server here at work and I needed to add 10.* to the list of proxies that aren't to go through the proxy server and then I could view that default apache installation page...
