Anyone here know of any sites where I can get some information for running the system in the subject line?

We're getting 7 new Sun systems in the CS lab, probably with a lot of the same software as the ones we have already have installed, and I'm supposed to be "familiarizing" myself with the layout/operation of these machines because the CS profs are also getting the same type of machine in their offices and I'm the one everyone is supposed to come to for help... There is a slight dilemna here as I've never used anything mentioned in the subject line... Then to add to it all, the only browser they have installed is Netscape...

So if anyone has any suggestions for software that works well with this system, I'd love to hear what you think. Also any personal tips for working with it would be much appreciated.

http://wwws.sun.com/software/solaris/

They used to develop solaris free for the x86's but they stopped with, I believe, OS 8. Can't say I've ever used Solaris but it probably won't be that different from Linux. You can download Linux or BSD for free.

Solaris's interface sucks... and it's really powerful if you have a super high-end computer or a sweet workstation.. if not.. it's like running Win3.1 on a 286... (I have, that's the sad part)..
