Sorry... this should be in the main forum... unless of course someone here can deal with it. I don't know what the hell's going on at the moment. |

NJ: When this kind of problem occurs its usually something to do with a virus or an application you've installed (pos. unwittingly). Try running adaware. |
Maniac (V) Inmate From: The Land of one Headlight on. |

I Certainly hope that's not the case because I just updated adaware and ran it - PLUS I just installed new virus detection and it's running. Ohwell... <g> |

I brought this up awhile ago...and yes, it's the Hypermart 'pop-up' alright. Now, I'm not pointing any fingers here, but I did notice that InSiDeR either was or is using Hypermart...a strange connection? |

I get that sometimes. I hit 'Submit Reply and I get a hypermart pop up and my message doesn't go through. Anoys hte fck out of my cause something in IE 6.0 deletes the contents of the text box when I go back, so i have to retype everything. |

Weird. I have a pop-up killer running, but it does beep whenever it kills a pop-up, and I've never heard any beeps here at the Asylum. |

OK Just ran lava soft and it did indeed find a suspicious cookie from double click. That must have been dropped on my system within the past 10 hours or so. We'll see if removing it... stops the annoyance. |

Probably has something to do with the 'Pop-up'...or maybe not. Maybe the 'Pop-up' also 'scans' for E-Mail addresses... |

I had a similar problem with my boards once... one of the members was hosting their sig with MSN so everytime someone viewed a post/replied to a post that he had made a login box for MSN would pop up. I have nenver seen any popups here in the few post I have made, I am running IE 6. |

Slime (and others that don't have this problem), which browser are you using? And what type of protections do you have? I know that at home, I never have this problem (but then, I have different protections at home) and I use a different browser... |

I've never had this problem. Am running IE 5.5, well was, now using Crazy Browser which has a built-in pop-up killer. Then at school I'm running either IE6 on the PC's, or NN4.7 (blech!), and never had a problem with any of them. |

Ini & Skaarjj: Sorry... I lost it before I had a chance to save it.... had it open in notepad and must have closed it by mistake... either that or is it possible it closed "itself" with that 3 minute timeout? Anyway... if it happens again I'll save it for sure. |

Can't say I've ever came across that popup. I wouldn't mind taking a look at the source if it's being sent around. I'm currently browsing with Mozilla 1.0 on this machine but sometimes I use Internet Explorer 6.0 on my other PC. |

InSiDeR: My point is that it has been noticed sporadically over at least 6 months by various inmates - it may not be a recent thing it may just be that they never bothered mentioning it until now - treating it as 'one of those things' |

Actually, I mentioned this a while ago...don't know when I first noticed it. Back then, it just got 'blown off' as some sort of adware on the computer at work. I am really starting to think that it is browser specific. |

Hmm, that's a strange story. I have never seen any pop-ups here, and I haven't even been using a firewall or anything lately. But I guess I'd better dig it out again, just to be on the safe side. |
