I used it a lot for comercial projects when I didn't have access to a ~cough~ legal ~cough~ version of Photoshop. Heh. Forgot most it now though. Hmm.. step two... mask.. Arr! You'll be wanting to set up a greyscale bump map for the lighting effects filter. Err.. can't remember what the lighting effects filer is called in Gimp anymore but erm.. sorry. So um yah, bump map, lighting effects. That should put you on the right track. The online doc's for that app are pertty good. http://www.gimp.org/docs.html but I'm assuming you found Doc's site from the gimp.org tutorial page yah? But then I had a wierd thing happening, the top, right, left and bottom of the circle wasn't smoothly blurred like the rest of the circle. Whats happening? To find pluggins that you know the name of, but can't find them go to Xtns -> plugin details. You search for the name, it tells you a lot of info and where on the menu it is. The light filter is filters -> light -> lighting effects... st3vor: are you using linux or windows? The lens flare for PS is there only one kind of flare? I think PSP has it that way, but the gimp has it where you can even make your own. edit: Whats the inset thing called?
