Well.... if any of you recall...
waaayyyy back in this thread ---> http://www.ozoneasylum.com/Forum3/HTML/002878.html
an italian fella from this forum ---> http://www.psd.it/forum
said that they were starting an international board competition for photoshop.
So... we had to pick 5 members to compete.
We did that.
And the results are here ---> http://www.ozoneasylum.com/Forum1/HTML/005743.html
Anyway.... the competition started a few weeks ago.
And tonight it has ended.
Images from every other forum are scheduled to be posted sometime tomorrow for a week long voting process.
Members of the Asylum will be able to vote on all the competing images with the exception of the Asylum team's entry. And it goes the same way for the other competing boards.
As we haven't been kept up to date by the italian forums..... here's who we know is participating...
* The Ozone Asylum
* The Gurus Network
* Somethingleet.com
* PSD.IT Forums
I haven't seen anything from Somethingleet.com..... so we're not sure if they're going to make an entry.
The Gurus Network, on the other hand has been working diligently...
and from the looks of things.... so has PSD.IT.
So what's this post for?
Hype, of course.
Get ready to vote on some images in the following week. The rules for voting, and the manner it shall be done will all be explained when the time arises..... so don't sweat that.
Furthermore....
As the captain of the Asylum team... I figured it'd be best to address all of you...... and tell you the story of Team Ozone Asylum..... and how horrible this experience has been.... heh.
First of all...
take a look at our team...
DocOzone
Izzay
Mahjqa
Synax
Michael
If you ever thought you could put together a larger crowd of procrastinators .................................................................................................................................................................................... .................................................................................................................................................................................... .................................................................................................................................................................................... ..................................................................................... you were wrong.
heh.
We got a late jump on this.
And we are all much busier people than we thought we were.
This became very apparent to all of us that it was going to take more time than we really had.
Not to mention... the pressure started comin' early from the GN........ and their members have seemed quite excited all the way along...... so it was certainly in the back of *my* mind.... that they were producing an image to be reckoned with.
Coupled with the late start on the project...... we came into numerous other problems.
Real life, for one.
Izzay and Synax have been rediculously busy lately.... and time is/was something that neither had.
Mahjqa's been workin on numerous things as well..... and he was scarce.
The Doc...... heh... well.. he's the Doc... and we know he's busy.
So anyway... to make a long story longer....
The image got started on at 12:01 in the morning.... on November 12th.
Since then... it's been a mad dash.
Working... uploading.... coordinating.... and hating every bit of it.
Then... as progress started to pick up... and we started getting in a small groove of times to work on this thing.........................
Internet problems.
As we all know........ the Asylum went down....
Well..... my site is also hosted by the lovable Dreamhost...... and guess what...... my site was part of the 10% that went down as well.
Hosted psd files all stagnant at that point.
And seeing as none of us are in the same time zone.......... that caused a bit of problem, as we weren't online at the same time to see what point the image was at last.... and who had it.
Soooo..... after working through that problem, compliments of an Aussie fellow that has no idea he helped us.....
we got back on track, somewhat.
The last two nights have looked something like this on my desk each night...
and i have no doubt that a few of my teammates have had it the same way.
Sooooooooooooooo.... we've been really busy tonight with last minute coordination and decisions. I can't tell you how many turns this fuckin thing has taken. (sorry emps... i just *had* to swear.... ehehe)
And if i've been "short" with any of you on Q lately.... this thing is why.
I think I can speak for the entire team when I say...
I'm glad this is over...... I really am.
So anyway....
you guys aren't voting on the Asylum image.....
and we were picked by you guys..... to represent you guys......
so i guess we owe it to ya, to give you a look at what we've strung together.
The theme was.... "the evil inside"...
It had a maximum size of 800 x 600...... and 150k.
And here's the result....
Cheers to my teammates.
I know it's been a bitch.

Yalp.
Michael started it.
we argued.
Synax painted.
we got depressed...
Izzay painted... and deleted...
we got confused...
Synax didnt like what we were doing...
we got angered...
Mahjqa Tossed pixels around here and there... and joined in the fray.
we laughed...
DocOzone stepped in at the last hour or so and helped finish.
We now are going to sleep.
It was a *pass the psd* kind of thing... at the end we had about 3 different psd being worked on at the same time.

OK, now this is all done I do have one thing to get off my chest:
Working with 5 other people is great, but working with 5 people on the one file/image is too many IMHO. It if was a series of images, or a multimedia project of sorts that involved other kinds of work outside of photoshop then it would have been better.
I just think that with 5 people and only 800x600 pixels it's hard to let each member shine.
As PSD.it said, they let every member contribute to the concept, then they picked 5 to make the image. Although to be honest, after the concept had been worked out, that image could have been done by one person in just a couple of hours.
Hell, even with the Guru's or Asylum image one person could have done the PS work for iw within the given ammount of time with days to spare.
So, while it was fun I can't really see the point to a 5 person team if it's just one image. But maybe that's just me.
EDIT:
Hey Michale, ya got the exact same puter Box as me! Although mine doesn't contain any trace of it's inital gateway innards. I knew there was something oddly fimilar about all of those coffee cups sitting next to a puter case like that. Hah.

Also to add to Dracs "off the chest post" which I do think is right about 5 people is a little to much for just one image. I think its crap with just one image import.
Most people are photo manipulators not full digital painters. Even though I think full digital painting is fun, it's not for every one. There are more photo manips people about than talented painters, so why no more than one photo import?...hhhmmmm...
Maybe I'm just pissed at the fact there was only one photo to play with, as I normally play with about five to 10 photos at a time on one art piece.... though really one photo is good in some ways, as it makes you think more what to do with one photo and how important a right photo is for it all to work. Its just not for me with one photo.......oh well I?m just having rant ........
Over all it was nice to work with 5 people and create something what we all had in are head to create?
~ wonders off back to cell??. With photo withdrawal symptoms ?? .~

You know we don't have stop here.
We can have our own civil battles. It's simple, like pong we just find 5 people that are willing to work together (well in this case 10, 5 on each team) and pick a theme. The make a graphic, the asylum votes on it. Simple. I wouldn't mind something like that at all. Maybe if it is as hectic as people have described above, we can lower it to maybe a 4v4, 3v3, possibly a 2v2. That could be great... What do you all think?

I would imagine the most diffult challenge here was merging 5 very fluent styles.
As for the late start, I have found that more creativity flows from *the night before* than any other time during a deadline. Call it procrastination if you will. I call it conceptualizing. Good job fellas [with a hint of jealousy on the side].

Considering this was a "spare time" project that involved a lot of hard work, it escaped.

if we are going to drop down to technicalities and ignore the piece as a whole, since when the f..k did a kid that age ever have a moustache (i mean the pd.it image), that was what was called artistic license, without that fake mosutache, no one would have put 2 + 2 together and got hitler from it.
so just because of an inverted mirror image peopel are knocking what i think is the best image, but not one person has brought up the fact that kids that age rarely have a moustache, and hitler certainly didnt...
