I don't think we stick to the websafe colors because of the legacy... I think it has more to so with plausable cross-platform antialising and transparency.. |

What's so bad about 16-bit colour? My computer runs on that, and it works fine. Gradient is no problem, so what's the big issue? |

stupid drivers that are not able to render 24 bit images 'correctly' on 16 bit displays... that's the reason for the gradients. |

I *can* use 24-bit, but only if I want a res of 640x480 ... And well... heh... No. |
