So as 2002 draws to a close lets look back over the last year in the Asylum. Highlights? Low points?

I'd like to concentrate on the highlights as for every full blown Tool School candidate we have added 4 or 5 great new members

Highlights:

FAQ (and its new icon)

New members: Suho1004, Synax, etc.

[edit: Oh and Amerusa who also managed to win the first sig contest she entered - or something like that ]

Sig competitions: Torture, disco, etc.

more later....................

Michael: LOL - the Church of Ray has certainly taken a great leap forward this year

I was going to avoid low points but Weadah going AWOL does deserve a mention

The formal debate feature in the philosophy section and my privilege in participating in the very first one was a high point for me.

I believe the creation of the FaqWiki was awesome.

And I will remember with great fondness the Asylum Love thread Michael began

My triumphant return! Erm. Okay, actually, I think the FAQwiki does deserve pride of place. Watered and fertilized properly, this will become a massive resource, not just for us, but possibly for the internet at large.

2002 was the year I discovered this mad-house.

Remind me... were we talking highs or lows again?

Hrmmz.

My intervention, DG's Eye tut, mahjqas fire, DB's 4'th sig win, and of course the Debate, and lets not forget the conundrum thread that bugs started, new forums (SBHTML & XML), forum photoshop debate...

Can't think of anymore at this time besides all the major rip victims like Weadah.

Getting some whacky new members

On a personal note for me as well.....this year saw me finish school, returning behind the camera to make 3 films including using some restored war planes. Spilling my heart to the gurl I love on Valentines Day and getting my first serious gf, accompanied by red roses and a card. Then getting depressed I couldnt see her as much as I wanted to. Then meeting up with someone off the net (My Ex GF!) where we came close to doing *IT* and swore we would stay with each other forever and ever. All the ups and down of the school year, SAC's, SAT's, Exams, Tests, Assemblies, the Rock Eisteddfod (TV special), the loss of my old deb partner to a bad viral infection over at France

There are many many things that have escaped me at the moment, but it has been a year of change most certainly. I belive next year will be a Year of Change....not just for me but the Asylum as well I reckon.

I've made some great friends this year as well learning a serious amount of information. Not to mention the piles of inspiration I get from being a part of the Asylum. This is just the greatest community I've ever been involved in, and I imagine it will stay that way.

I'd like to take this time to say "Thanks" to everyone who make this place a part of my everyday routine.

Well...this year was full of big changes...for me, and for the Asylum. Along the lines of the Asylum...the Formal Debate, which got off to a great start! (Thanks, Bugs!)...yes, the FAQ...who can forget that? And some of the Mad Scientists, who really 'upped' the contributions to the board (Thanks Michael!). The 5K comp (which pretty much bombed...but Ini and the Doc did well...). Other things...the Asylum Chess Tournament...very nice. The Asylum D&D...got off to a great start! A few threads, that proved that we are still the Asylum...thanks to all that contributed...

For me, personally, I found the woman of my dreams, and married her. I got a job with SAP...which consumes most of my time *sigh*...and became a Mad Scientist (which was a culmination of one of my dreams...never thought it would happen to me...thanks, Doc!). Made it back home, on vacation, to be there for my familiy...as my Uncle passed away...and we all had Thanksgiving together...a bitter-sweet memory. I finally bested my ex-wife before a court, allowing me my lawful visiting rights with my daughter, after 4 years of court battles...also bitter-sweet...and the slow building of my relationship to her...my daughter. Got involved in the many ripper episodes...my tomahawk got a workout. Slowly learned, that there is a lot of work involved in being a Mod...thanks, to all that helped me out...and got to know some of the great members here a bit better...

I'm really looking forward to 2003...as the Asylum grows, and grows, there's more work than ever...but the rewards are more than worth it. Thanks to all who contribute here...you know who you are. The Asylum wouldn't be the same without you...keep up the good work!

Merry Chistmas, and a Happy New Year!

The big things that have happened on here as allreay been mentioned (the FAQ, chess tournament etc) so I won't go through those again. We also started the RipperReport project that isn't quite finnished yet...

This was also the year where I started to get 'active' here, before this year I only had a couple of posts... On a personal note I finnished High Shcool and enterd the world of the University. A big step for me and it has taken a lot of my time to get to used the new lifestyle. I've also made a lot of new friends, both here and in real life.

For me this has been a great year, and hopefully 2003 will become even better

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!
