You're probably thinking I was starting another Does God Exist Debate, right?

Well, you're wrong! What I want to know is how many of you think BigFoot exists. I think there is a very good chance that there is such a thing and I personally find the search for him utterly fascinating.

Check out this site for some background info http://www.bfro.net/

So let's here it. Does he exist or not?

Well, last summer on my Bike ride to SF, on (let me check) Day 13 we hit the redwoods, and there are so many BigFoot enthusiasts there, that it is just covered with carvings and such of bigfoot. I forgot where, but I saw a 10 foot chainsaw carving of BigFoot.

Persoanlly, though, do I beleive he exists? Sure. Why not? They very well may be remenats from an age long since past, and things of that nature (Yeti, blah blah blah) are so deeply rooted in some cultures, with actual first person accounts that sound credible, that it seems like it should be given some credibility.

Although I would love this to be so I don't think it is likely. My main reasons are:

1. So many of the earliest sightings were faked (the guy who did a number of them died recently).

2. The related phenomena (like bullets passing through it and it being able to disappear in plain sight) suggest that like the Greys, the Loch Ness Monster (and earlier fairies, pixies, etc.) it is a product of our overactive human minds (misidentifying things or actually imagining the whole thing).

However, there was a recent study by a US biologist which suggested that a number of bigfoot prints seemed to be real feet (something which would be difficult to claim) - that said the man who died left behind a beautifully carved pair of wooden Bigfeet).

So fingers crossed but I'm not holding my breath

Yes... I think he/she exists...
I dont' have a whole lot of dialogue with that of course...
I've read a few books on it as well.... and all I can really say is that I want it to exist. heh.
On top of all that, however.... I think the whole thing is unlikely.

Nessy on the other hand.... .... Nessy is/(was within the last 100 years) out there... yep. I'm a firm believer there.

It's is like a good freind of mine said "There is more proof that validates such things that not."

Cool beans. Aren't those close up shots amazing? The breasts really make me think it was not faked. It just seems like something you wouldn't do for a hoax.

Yeah, that's some pretty freaky stuff, actually...

When my wife and I were traveling around the US a few summers ago we got lost (OK, I got lost, and she just happened to be with me) in the mountains on the way to Taos, and we ended up camping overnight in the middle of nowhere. The coyotes howled all through the night and we heard noises in the forest. I was just thinking how fortunate it was that I had not just read that Bigfoot page before embarking on that trip...

Ok, yeah here's a confession! I used to do quite a bit of rock climbing and hiking with a good buddy and I made it *very* clear to him that BigFoot or even partial references would end a trip right then and there. He did it once before he knew about my "condition" and I nearly soiled myself.

I'm quite serious, any mention of BigFoot when I'm in the wilderness and I just lose it. Ever since I was a kid, I've been terrified of the thing. Now I'm fascinated by him but only when I'm indoors and "safe" Can you believe it? What a wimp, eh?

Wimp? No, not at all. Just a very curious human being. We are fascinated by what frightens us--in fact, there's a fine line between fascination and fear. One of the reasons I majored in oral literature was because I have always been fascinated by tales of the supernatural (ghost stories, etc.). The stuff freaks me out, but I gobble it up. I spent an entire semester in university researching Japanese ghost stories to do a paper on the role of the supernatural in Japanese folklore, and I did another comparitive study of "drowning ghosts" in Korean folklore during my MA studies. It's just human nature...

Hmmm...Bigfoot...I could post alot on this subject...being that I've lived in 'Bigfoot' country. And when I say 'lived', I mean in real wilderness. So, I got a few 'interesting' stories to tell...hair-raising stories...

Some tribes of the North-west have the Bigfoot thing...Sasquatch. Do I think it exists? Yes. Is there evidence? Yes.

This wouldn't work for Bigfoot, but if they really wanted to find out if Nessie is real, they could just drain the damn loch and see it there are any 20 ton pleisiosaurs flapping around.

I'm actually kind of surprised that this hasn't been done. What with all of the eccentric billionaires running around the planet.

Of course, the people of the area would never let this happen. When it was proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Nessie did not exist, their tourist industry would become non-existant.

I mentioned the death of a Bigfoot hoaxer (Ray L. Wallace) but Loren Coleman (a reliable cryptozoologist) rather lays into that issue:
www.lorencoleman.com/is_bigfoot_dead.html

see also:
www.lorencoleman.com/bigfoot_1.html

The scariest recent pictures I've seen are those from Wild Creek near Mt. Rainer in 1995 - two are shown here (although I can't see why they the second proves the others are hoaxes):
www.geocities.com/tomkinson99/hoaxes/hoaxes.html

hmm most resources suggest so:
www.n2.net/prey/bigfoot/articles/bfat50.htm

but as a follow up:
www.anomalies.net/archive/cni-news/CNI.0049.html

In this day and age is it even possible to have any picture/movie evidence that couldn't be faked??
