So i wanted to ditch my outlook express for another email client.
But i want not any client.
Here is what my new mail client should do:
-Multiple Users (that is at least 2 me an my girl)
-Each user can have multiple accounts (me@hotmail.com , rinswind@somwhere.us, Stupid@home.tv etc.)
-When the mail client starts it should look in all the users accounts if there is any mail (this should not be done manual).
-Every time the client looks for new mesages it checks all the accounts (again not manual)
-Each user has one inbox where all the mail from the different accounts is collected. (not an inbox for every account).
-Each user should be able to manage his/hers accounts and aply his/hers own filter rules and mapping in his/hers inbox.
-If possible the program should work on a network so that each user can check mail on the different machines in the network.
-The mail client should be easy to use....

Outlook express can do all this except maybe the network function... but i don't want it since i think off it as an security problem. Most of the mail worms and virusses are aimed at outlook or outlook express and i am not shure if my firewall and antivirus program will keep out all the a dangerous stuff.

Give me a hint if you know something.
BTW looked at:
-The bat
-Pegasus
-Mozzila mail
those are not could not do all the tricks or i could not let them doing these tricks , but that is the same to me.

~So it's your birthday today?congratulations and have a nice day.
~So it's not? have a nice day too~

Microsoft Outlook (not Express) has always worked for me. It does all of that and a bit more. Than again, I have an exchange server with NortonCE and a hardware firewall.

All in all, Outlook has been pretty good despite the obvious security flaws. If you keep your virus definitions up to date you shouldn't have to worry about it.

I use Eudora... again, it does all of that, no problem (plus you get the peace of mind knowing that the usual Outlook/Internet Explorer viruses won't fire.)

I'm with Silence on Outlook...I've been using Outlook for about 6 years and over all have been very happy with its features. One thing I don't care for though is that if you use it in a corporate environment your admins can read all of your email without you knowing it... something to think about

Yeah, Boudga, that's true. Although, I'd never read my users mail just because of the principle of the thing.

Anyone here use Netscape 7.0's mail client? I set it up to retrieve mail from my netscape web mail account because they use IMAP servers for this...and one day it quit working...unable to retrieve mail and I can not find any support for my mail settings in order to get it running again. If anyone knows what the current IMAP server settings are please post them!

i use pegasus and outlook

pegasus is rather dull, tho. but it is nice

incredimail is a bit sleazy, the only thing i like about it is how easy it is to set up a new account.

I can't fault Outlook.

Apart from the email handling (multiple users/accounts - including 'Download Headers Only' great for virus prevention), it has excellent calendar/contacts/tasks features too.
And, it synchronises nicely with PDA

(It's a bit pricey though, unless you get it bundled with office)

ok...
Thanks guys... just downloaded eudora going to check it out now

Yesterday i tried incredimail and it looks just like Outlook Express... just with a sweet candy skin..
I do not like souped-up emails with pictures, music and so on... which incredimail specializes in.
Just plain text will do. But i did try it and when i wrote a mail i heard the noise from an old fashioned typewriter. That's not what i wanted otherwise i got me a typewriter and send a snail-mail. Duh.
But i must admit it's realy easy too use and it can import real easy my OE accounts.

Pfew.... it took me a couple of times.
But i finally found a nice email client.
It's easy, it's beautifull, it has an email warning... and it's not outlook express hehe.
It is called foxmail and you can find it here thanks to webattack.

eudora. You'd install it into different folders for each user.
If you place these folders in the network, you can access it from the whole network.

I'm with Arthemis: Pegasus. Does a ton of stuff, but I'm not sure about the network thing.
