This is really weird... I don't think I've ever been this nervous about posting something at the Asylum. Here goes...

The astute among you will notice that this is my 3000th post. I'm usually not one to keep track of such things, but this time around I decided I actually wanted to say something worthwhile. I've had some long posts in the past, but I think this one is going to be all that long. Basically I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who makes this place what it is. Little did I know what I was getting myself into that April day last year when a Google for Photoshop tutorials brought up a place called the Ozone Asylum. My first few posts were in the Photoshop thread, where I most likely asked a bunch of stupid questions. As the days went by I started checking out the other forums, and slowly I became part of the community.

There have been other communities, of course. I would drop in, sign-up if I felt the place was worthwhile, and post for maybe a few weeks. Nothing ever lasted, though, as I quickly grew bored/irritated with the experience. When I came to the Asylum I wasn't looking for a new home--in fact, I didn't think I was really capable of getting too involved in an online community. But you guys took me in, fitted me for a straight jacket and began doling out the pills. I was so moved by the people here that I knew I had to stay--well, there was also the fact that the Mad Scientists locked my cell door.

These past 3,000 posts have been a blast (for me at least, if not for the rest of you). Here's hoping for 3,000 more (...he says to a chorus of groans...).

There is something else about my 3,000th post that makes it special, and that is that I made it a personal goal to have my site finished by the time I wrote my 3,000th post. In retrospect I realize that this was extremely clever of me, since, unlike actual deadlines, I can more or less choose when to write my 3,000th post. So, here it is, and here is my site (critiques are welcome in the Site Reviews forum). I would name everyone here who helped me out along the way, but so many people helped me in so many ways I really wouldn't know where to begin, and I wouldn't want to risk leaving anyone out. Those of you who helped me know who you are, and you have my sincerest thanks and appreciation.

(To commemorate this milestone, I'm bringing back the first sig I ever made here...)

*whew*

The whole post, I thought you were going to say something like "and that's why i've decided it's time for me to leave!" =)

Anyway, in my mind I have this unwritten list of the regulars around here, and I don't know when people enter it or exit it, and I couldn't write it down on paper - can't remember the whole thing at once, only whether a given individual is in it or not. And you're definitely in it. Which is generally a good thing. So, it's good to have you here =)

And I'll leave the site review for the site review forum, later =)

Heh, that's funny, because I was thinking along the same lines as I wrote it--not that I was leaving, but that it sounded like a "farewell post." That would have been quite poetic... to leave on my 3000th post. I doubt I could stay away for long, though.

thankyou.

I'd like to point out a sub-topic often seen in the coveted 3,000 post mark...
pr0n.
Oh yes... you heard me right...
pr0n.
And it's all Jason's doing...

(I've bolded the portions you all need to pay attention to.)

So what is my point you ask?
Well... nothing really... other than offering the "out of the blue" quality to this thread....
And the fact I had this sudden urge to use "pr0n" 3 times in one post.
Woo.

So I'd like to thank Jason for making this happen.
Let's all give Jason a round of applause.

Suho1004: And its great to have you here - we are greater than the sum of of our parts and that is saying something considering how great some of our parts are and you are certainly one of our great upstanding members - its been fun hanging out with you

Michael: What is dirty about "special quality"? You must have a low naughtiness threshold - perhaps I was right when I called you a pussy

Ahhhhhh but enough of the cracks I'd better bugger off and do something useful - a bit of gardening seems the right thing to do and I need to get my tools together esp. my hoe.

[edit2: Right now I have finished digging holes in my back garden I'm going to put a lick of paint on my back gate.

Did I mention I'm going to see a band tonight? Yes its Stiff Little Fingers!!!]

[edit: Oh and following Michael's advice: pr0n, pr0n, pr0n]

well Suho, I have to say that I really like you being around. With all of the things that have happend in the past, you are one of the people that have not blown you top and freaked out at some. You are a genuine nice guy. That is a big plus in my book. because I rarely am

I really doubt that I have contributed anything to your stay here, but you have to mine. You write very well. Don't listen to your wife about the blog thing .

Alright, enough of the mushy stuff. I have some web pages to make.

Suho, it is a genuine pleasure to know you are part of this community. 3000 posts in such a short time is quite a statement of your involvement. And it is all quality. In short, I'm really glad you came.

Again, I am quite flattered by all the attention, especially all the thinly veiled pornographic remarks!

And while I appreciate all the support, I just want to make sure that no one takes my wife's comments too seriously. I know I didn't. In fact, we both had a pretty good laugh over her appearance in my journal. So don't worry--she's not going to be stifling my dreams.
