Doc gave me a black eye a long time ago. Taught me to be more careful about the kind of company I keep, and to think more about my actions being perceived as provocations.

I keep a link to Doc's site as he's a really talented guy and his site is worth seeing. No permanent damage was done, so we got over the riff. These days I am a little more aware of my surroundings and would have fought back more effectively...but also much less likely to get into a situation where I need to fight. Mellowed out with age, one might say.

i hafta say, i didn't expect the doc to look like that............
in *my* world he was in his mid to late 40's...pudgy...slightly balding and wore glasses LOL boy oh boy was i off!!

I'm not sure why this is a suprise as I'm sure I've seen a thread where the Doc owned up not always being the mellow guy people think (although I could be wrong). Lets be honest nicotine and caffeine withdrawl can do nasty things to a man so I think we'll be OK if we make sure he has a regular supply

Doc lost his temper. I came out to greet him in "condition white" (completely oblivious of reality) and didn't know I was in a fight till he charged me. These days, this would have caused an automatic response of "side-step, draw, fire till threat is gone", but I wasn't armed or trained back then. Of course, these days I'd know better than spend a night over at the home of a woman who played Doc's girlfriend at the time. So it was a not-so-smart action on my part, and a juvenile response on Doc's part -- great combination for the hospital emergency room.

On the other hand, Doc got me started in Javascript and taught me a few things about Photoshop. It was fun to see how much great work he managed to create using obsolete computers. Is he still in Sweeden?

Oleg Volk: Great story (and I'm looking forward to the Doc's version ). He is for the moment but is moving to San Diego soonish (there is a thread aroun about covering it) so perhaps we can have a rematch

Don't want a re-match, I am a peace-loving person. Nothing like having the ability to do damage to keep one's temper in check! Doc and I got along find afterward. Besides, I wouldn't be going to California for any reason.
