I was wondering if there is somewhere I can go to see user statistics- particularly % of audience that uses 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768 settings. Just curious . .

Thanks!

ha! google of course:

A small majority of users have SVGA displays (1024x768 and up). A large minority have XGA displays (800x600). A very small and shrinking number, ~1-2%, have VGA displays (640x480). These numbers do not include those who browse using web appliances.

from browser news updated 1/10/04. How accurate?

how accurate? I dunno, it's right in line with the assumptions I'm running under. My assumptions came from somewhere, don't recall

Ewww:

quote:
AOL 8-bit (256 colours): this accounts for ~5% of page accesses, by users of an AOL browser with image compression enabled: compression severely restricts the number of displayable colours. This percentage will likely remain about the same in the near future. ... The bottom line is that, although the number of those with 8-bit displays is small and shrinking, design for 256 colours will remain a serious issue so long as AOL continues to compress (mutilate) images.

Another reason to dislike AOL.

Is that what the commercials are talking about when they say the new version of AOL "optimizes" Internet connections?

a lot of my friends and relatives have montiors that are capable of doing really high resolutions but they complain that anything other than 800x600 is hard to read...I think 800x600 will be the norm for most people who experience vision problems.

Thanx,

Boudga
