Is it possible to change the disc label of a CD-ROM using some sort of utility?

I'd like to rename a few system-backup CDs for organizational purposes and I would rather not waste blank CDs rewriting them just for the name change.

(Of course, I'm not talking about a printed label on the surface of the CDs; I'm talking about the label defined when the CDs are burned.)

You can do it if the disk was written using multisession (or if it is a CD-RW), but once you close the disk, the filesystem cannot be written to again.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Oh, well.
