i have a black background on that is a pic that takes up 3/4 of the page i want to put the button applet on the pic ...i have used image ready to slice the pic up ...i can get the applet in the postion i want it but i only want it to have a framed boarder the size of one row of buttons ...so when ya mouse over they drop down but the applet needs to be bigger than that to allow em to drop .... i udjust the size but it then pushs the pic out of wack....ends up puttin bits of it all over the place....<P> can some one please be kind enough to tell me how to do this or is there a program that will let me put it where i want it with out all the head aches ...

Hi Grandad! I think the confusion I hear from ther others is the talk of "applet" versus "javascript". One is a java.class file, a mini-program so to speak, and the other is a javascript that runs in the code, making things happen to the images displayed. Doesn't sound much different, but it is. Easiest way for us to understand the problem is if you can point to a page that dos something similar, and then ask, "how can I do this too?", or maybe ppoint to a broken page of your own and ask, "how can I make this work?"<P>We're all better with speciofics than genralities, I guess. :-) Get back to me!<P>-doc-<P>------------------

Trivia fact: JavaScript was originally going to be called LiveScript; the name was changed as a marketing ploy.<P>JavaScript, therefore, is completely separate from Java, although it has some syntastical similarities.<P>This has been another...

hi ya ...
thanx for the reply...
ok i have a black back ground on that background i have a pic it is made up of 3 frames (not web frames )these frames are boarders that i made ...
in the first boarder(sits at the top) i have a pic the middle boarder(sits 3/4 the way up the pic) is balnk ...this is where i want to put the buttons...they sit inside the boarder but drop down past the bottom boarder ...
the third boarder is at the bottom which will be used to typr news events into..
i have tryed to reslice (usin adobe image ready 2 ) the pic making the second boarder the same size as the applet it slices them up in #'s 1 2 3 4 5....
the # 3 slice is where i want the applet to go ( i used 1 cool button to make the buttons an applet) ...i have used the slice 3 as the back ground pic for the applet... this way i get the bottom boarder (that runs under the buttons ) to show....
in the html editor i deleted the line that adobe inserted for slice 3 an then placed the appltet code into this string where slice 3 would have been...
but it will not line up properly the applet works an i have made it the same size as the slice 3 but for some reason it just wont line up....
it is out by bout 10 pixels either way ...no matter what i try ie: resize applet etc i cant get it right
any ideas would be greatly appreciated<P>thanx again

How about a link to the page you're needing help on grandad? You'll probably get a good response if you did that.

Yah, that would be best, it's always easier to find a problem with a page we can see! Without having looked at it, I'm betting maybe that java applet is outputting a blank line of code, and that line feed might be causing a 10 pixel gap? Hard to say, post that url, we won't be mean, promise! :-)<P>Your pal, -doc-
