Yeah, Sorry, I know we sort of went down this path before.....but I keep coming to a dead end. I thought maybe I missed it along the way...I've been asking about this thing for what seems like about a year now.....Does anybody else besides Doc know how to do it?

It's JavaScript and style sheets. Using absolute positioning, he placed the yellow rectangle over the background and then the words over that, and then when the mouse moved he moved the rectangle to move with it. Check the source code.<P>Spell "slime" differently, and you get "smile"! Not that anyone really cares...

To be fair there are a few tricks to Doc's Main Slider page that make it more difficult, for example the menu items actually move when you select one.<P>I have a version of this on my page http://www.bitdamaged.com that is a bit simplified from what Doc has. I didn't use his code, instead built it from scratch and I don't have the same movement as he. (I could have but I plagerized enough as it is) but it may be a bit easier to understand. Basiclly it's as Slime said, there is the bar with the glow layered on top and the words on top of that. (Actually I then have a transparent gif on top of all three for each link too) On mine the glow is always tracking the mouse move but is only visible when within the area of the nav bar. Which parts of this are giving you trouble?

Thanks, Bitdamaged....That helps a little bit.
I just needed someplace to start from. I'm a little new to the Layers thing.
