So I just added the javascript to the interface I'm working on at work. http://www.coffman.umn.edu/insider/v3.3/ <P>Unfortunately the delayed image swaps get all jumbled together when the mouse is moved across multiple links. I know there should be a simple way to stop this from occurring (perhaps trapping javascript events until each script is done with?). Anyone know how to fix this?

I guess I'm not too sure what you mean. I don't get jumbled images on the mouseovers. In fact everything looks fine to me. I'm running Win9X NS4.7 and MSIE5.0. <P>Did you already fix this, or am I just misunderstanding the message?<P>Cuius testiculos habes, habeas cardia et cerebellum.

well I'm testing with Netscape 4.6 on MacOS 8.6, have yet to try it from home on PC Netscape. But basically what is happening is that the delays to swap the images carry over when u move over a new rollover, and since the rollovers affect the same images, they can change an image that was already changed by the next rollover. So, if I go 1 by 1 over each rollover and wait for it to finish before going to the next one, i'm fine, otherwise it messes up. Does this really not happen on yours?

I think it could be down to the size of the mouseover graphic, that can tend to slow things down.
I too viewed it with NN4.6 and IE5, runs fine and dandy <IMG SRC="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

It really doesn't happen on mine. I can go over everything, and I've no delays. Each image swaps out nice and smooth. It might be a Mac thingy. Perhaps one of our Mac members will speak up?<P>Cuius testiculos habes, habeas cardia et cerebellum.

So, for example, if u move the mouse over the 4 rollovers in the upper right corner from the bottom up, and stop on the top rollover, WITHOUT moving the mouse off the rollovers between each, u see the complete black arrow pointing to the TV?<P>When I do it, the two images below the top revert to their original state. I know why. it's because there is a 1/10 second delay between each image swap, so the last image to be swapped out of the 2nd to top rollover doesn't switch until 1/2 second or so after the mouse leaves. However, the instant it leaves, the top rollover starts swapping images from the top down. Therefore it swaps the image directly below it to the arrow image. But this all happens before the original script is done runing, so the original script then swaps the image back. Am I to believe that this only happens on my browser? Do other browsers somehow limit the javascripts to one function at a time? <P>BTW- I just tried this out on the boss' PC, and same problem. Sure the images swap and the nastiness goes away if u just move the mouse out and back over a rollover, but there's gotta be a way to make it cleaner.<p>[This message has been edited by jiblet (edited 22-05-2000).]

Up and Down both work fine for me. The only thing odd that happens for me, is when I go from the top down, if I stop on Archive, the oval around archive shows up just for an instant and then poof, gone. Other than that, I get the black line with arrow, and the ovals on everything else. And everything works from bottom up.<P>Cuius testiculos habes, habeas cardia et cerebellum.

That is indeed one of the predictable errors. I wonder why u don't get the others. Anyway, the bottom line is, I just need a method to either verify that the last rollover script is completed before starting the new rollover, or else cancel the delayed events from occurring.

If i mouseover from the right and mouse out to the right ..over each individual link, not up and down, everything works fine, I f I go up and down...sometimes i see the black arrow and highlight, sometimes not, and like f1_error points out the black oval text highlight vanishes suddenly.
Hope this helps
