Preserved Topic: Question again. Slidebar Rollovers (like on Ozones mainpage) (Page 1 of 1)

Another question, again keep in mind I am a complete newbie, I wish I didn't work so much and had time to read some books or take classes, but I dont :"(

Anyways, on Ozones main page as you move the mouse the slidebar on top moves with it ..I was able to take that code a reproduce using my own images the same thing, however I would like to be able to do this from scratch on my own, because I would like to try different effects such as scrolling up and down rather than left and right etc..

any pointers or directions? Any would be appreciated.

If anyone knows any good books or good teaching where I can ACTUALLY learn better please let me know..the only page I have ever done, my first and only is at "http://rpgr.square-net.com" and its pretty sad...anyways..im off thanks in advance for the help

ok, I believe Doc used DHTML on that page. before you learn that, there are a few things you should learn.
First, you need to know HTML
Second, learn CSS for a free online course click here http://www.webmonkey.com
Third, learn JavaScript for a free online course click here http://www.webmonkey.com
and then, when you know those, http://www.webmonkey.com has a DHTML tutorial. I'm not sure if it goes in depth as much as you want, but it is good for starting out. hope this helped. I am currently learning JavaScript from webmonkey.com

I guess this is an appropriate place to say that I would never recommend learning JavaScript from an online tutorial - even webmonkey's. They don't get in depth enough, and they'll often mislead you. If you're serious about learning JavaScript, get a good book. (I also learned HTML and CSS from books, but tutorials on those are usually OK.) If you really can't afford a book, and you can't get it for like your birthday or something, *then* I guess it's ok to resort to tutorials... I suppose many people learn well from tutorials, but you really won't be getting *everything* out of them.

Not quite sure if it's appropriate for a complete begginer with no programming experience though. It does assume a fair amount of C/C++/Java knowlege, just to warn you shifter.

Little Osh does have a point there. I can't really offer any other solution... it seems programming is one of those things that you have to keep working at until, eventually, one day, you just *get* it. Maybe.
