Preserved Topic: Javascript standards... (Page 1 of 1)

The latest Netscape release has me obsessing over standards, and I noticed that W3C has no information on javascript. Is anybody in charge of it? Or is it just developed organically by IE and Netscape as they implement new features?

Actually the w3c has a recommendation out for this, check out it's latest DOM spec.

The reason you won't find stuff on their pages relating to Javascript is because the language is consistent. It's the various browsers Document Object Models (DOM) that changes. Yes previous to this spec by the w3c Netscape and IE were free (and actually still are) to create their own DOMs, they had to. Hoepfully future releases of both browsers will follow the same basic spec but you can be sure that while the Netcape browsers based on the Mozilla engines will probably follow the standards pretty religiously IE will continue to add their own tweaks in an effort to make the browser a more likable choice.
