Heh, it's sorta neat, but kinda pointless, it seems. I think you could make it more interesting with images instead of solid colors, and using fewer layers and doing cooler effects with their movement. Pretty cool, though.

150 layers moving in a spiral displaying various characters from star trek and like series. 48 images in total, doubled up where necessary; I ran out of images.

I've a Pentium 150mzh, 32 meg ram, running IE and NN at the same time with other assorted internet programs and it's a bit jumpy with updates of about 1 second for each movement.

Be glad to hear if this speed improves with faster computers.

Thanks InI but how much smaller can I make the layer control function pasted below? Maybe it's the image type, size or dimentions? Full color too many colors? Perhaps the array accessed to locate the layer pointer and the layer attributes? How long does a browser take to access an array?

function rotate(deg)
{ for(i=0;i<offsets.length;i++)
{ laypntr=offsets["l"+i][2];
d=deg+(i*20);
laypntr["left"][0][laypntr["left"][1]]=Math.sin(d*0.0145329)*(i*3.5)+350;
laypntr["top"][0][laypntr["top"][1]]=Math.cos(d*0.0145329)*(i*2)+200;
};
deg+=1;
setTimeout("rotate("+deg+")",125);
};

no its not a trojan. i wouldn't do that to you.

anyway did you extract the zip into the right subdirectories? maybe i forgot to include the bmp's when i compiled. Does it extract to 2 folders tester and common? it should have the exe in a folder and the bmp's in a folder named common thats on the same level. (common shouldn't be in the programs folder, it just happened to be that way when i made it, i should change that)

it's not active x. it is directX, that's what most games are made from. it is written in visual basic since i don't know how to use dx in c yet. What i said about about the folders was a mistake, i was thinking about something else i made. the zip should have a bitmap named bullet.bmp. Since the program was written in vb you'll need the vb6 runtimes if you don't have them. and you'll need dx8, and i bet you don't have this unless you recently bought a game. i'm also making real games, and i will have them at http://www.jakejake5.f2s.com but right now i don't have my website up.
