I have been here a thousand time, always the same probs and i never remember...

I have this page with layers on http://www.activemusicservices.co.uk/templatetest.html

and when you resize the browser, it goes all over the place, i rekon it has something to do with absolute/relative co-ords, but i can never get my head around what should be basic stuff, can someone please assit me with this one. ( ignore the formatting issure with graphics, i can amend them later )

Thanks

axleclarkeuk: The only problem I had with the page (in IE/Win2k) is that the main content panel seems to be too far over to the right. I've resized and relaoded and I don't have any other problems with it (well I have problems with all those tables and font tags but this isn't the place!!).

What browser/platform combinations are causing you problems?

Basically i want the layer ( when i have positioned it properly) to stay where i put it, instead if it moving in relation the the screen, i need it to stay still !! so people can resize thier browser window and it looks ok.

I have both IE 5 /Win2k and Netscape 6.2

axleclarkeuk: I'm not sure I've understood the problem - when I resize the window the main content area stays where it was. Could you explain what you are trying to do?

I think that the problem lies in the fact that you have specified the style properties twice for that layer.

You have in your style sheets for .dynPage some attributes set and then you have overwritten them in the actual layer in the body of the document. Take out the "style" stuff in the layers in the body and set them in your style sheets in the head of the document.

It should work then.

~p.s. You are going to make the CSS and Javascript external right?~

The old standby for this is to reload the page if someone resizes the browser.

axleclarkeuk: I now understand the problem (and I suspect CPrompt's solution will work) the thing is that whenver I viewed your page the main content box was out of place (which is why resizing didn't affect it).

Yeah it'll work. I tested it before I said anything. You will have to adjust the margins and stuff though. When I looked at it on my 800x600 box it was all screwed up without adjusting the screen.
