We have done so.

Seems to be working in IE6, also, although it doesn't reload by itself.

You sure this avoids cookies, or is it just another way of doing the same thing?

That's excellent. Speed? IE 6 instant yup. This is really useful. Thanks again.

I've read this before, but haven't been able to make it work. I just tried a simple example in IE5 SP2 and it didn't carry the value over to the next page.

Ini: This sounds an interesting and innovative technique (would I expect anything less from you??) and looks like it solves numerous session cookie problems (esp. if they are going to be made illegal here in Europe!!) and I'm looking forward to playing with this but I'm a little unsure what I'm supposed to be viewing (or testing as this post seems repeated over in the main forum) - I don't get the alert telling me what the previous quote was and the page reloads everytime (IE5/NT). Is this supposed to happen?

[and: what is the support in Opera?]

Ini: It doesn't really disturb me (although it is noticebale on this slow connection/computer) but doesn't reloading the page rather spoil the point of using JavaScript?

That terminal is very clever although when I go for clear it reduces the font size to a just legible size. It got a little 'twitchy' for a while sending me back to the start. This computer is acting funny (I've got a replacement but it needs fixing first) so I'd see if anyone else has that trouble.

Anyway that is a great find and I'm looking forward to having a play (it'll work nicely with something I'm thinking of).

Where is this new stuff going to appear? No clues now.... Is it wapod.com perchance?

I look forward to it.

Ini, your first example worked extremely well. Almost instant

The second (terminal), as Emp said, reduced the font size a lot when ls or help was entered. Also, no pages loaded. All I got was page incomplete or a 404 so I guess it's still being built...

And I'm wondering if you could post the script or a link to it? I don't really understand where navigator.userName = "InI"; is supposed to go.

And oh yeah, I dig your sig =)

Hmm, I'm having some problems with this concept in some of the browsers I'm testing. Possibly it could be that I am not 'clicking' to the next page, but instead, just typing in the new URL into the browser window. Right now it works in IE on windows, but not on mac, and it works in netscape4.x on both platforms, but not in mozilla at all, either platform. I'll try another test with the related value in a linked page (I'm testing this on the front page to the OZONE, I never seem to play it safe, heh.)

Hmm, this is continuing to not work with both mac IE and Mozilla or Opera, just NS4.x and IE for windows. Possibly I'm missing something? I added this line to my OZONE front page...

navigator.fooString = "grizzle-grr";

And then on my http://www.ozones.com/spheredex.html page I have a short little script at the very bottom like so...

<script LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
if (navigator.fooString) document.write("<br>" + navigator.fooString + "<br>");
</script>

It seems pretty straightforward to me, but only seems to work on two of the browser combos I've tested. I hope I can figure this out, it'd make a nice workaround to the cookie usage.
