We use an "SMS Gateway" for paging our bosses here at work. The "Gateway" page is a script "messaging.mpl" page that I have no control over.

Sometimes we send pretty standard stuff. No need to write original content.

Is it possible for me to "send" data to the page's form fields via javascript on a page that I *do* have control over?

ie. a link might say "Click here to send 'no problems reported' SMS" so when you click there, it opens up the SMS Gateway with all the relevant fields filled in.

Can it be done?

BTW - I can't use any serverside stuff on this...

thanks,

Pete.

We have done so.

Hi InI,

You're right about how the .mpl page works.

Though I'm not wanting to submit to that .mpl from a remote form - I'm not 100% sure, but its a damn secure system and doubt it will allow submissions from a remote page/form. On a side, the .mpl page only works if you're working from a recognised IP.

What I was suggesting was that I could make a hyperlink that would bring up the .mpl page, but with the form already filled in... at present you get there and the fields are empty.. I want to get there with the fields full of my pre-written content.

Is this way possible?

---------

However, if it is an easy hack, let me know the method you mentioned, and I'll give it a try... you never know...

Well... I worked it out for myself.. (kind of thanks to InI!)

I copied the Form onto a .htm on my harddisk.. changed the path in the Form "action" to include the full IP.. and guess what - it worked!

:-)

Guess what - the page looks a whole lot cooler now too :-)
