I just received a catalog from a company called Publisher's Toolbox (http://www.pubtool.com) that is selling a product from Andromeda called Varifocus.
It's designed to unfocus the foreground or background of an image. The selling price is $44.00. Let me save you all some money by telling you an easy way to accomplish this effect in Photoshop.
First open your image, select all, copy and paste to a new layer. Then on the new layer you created gaussian blur the image just slightly (I used 2 for the gaussian blur setting). Next create a layer mask on the new blurred layer and choose the radial gradiant tool. Click down on the area you want in focus and drag you cursor to the far edge of the image. Doing this should reveal the sharp image on the layer below it. If the area you wanted to be in focus is blurred and the rest of the image is in focus you may need to click the "reverse" check box on the Radial Gradiant Option tool palette.
Hope this helps somebody. Anyway it was fun for me to play with.
------------------
