Doc, I read you inset Lines tutorial and had a sligt trouble accomplisihg the task major problem was getting the X,Y set to 12,11.<P>Additionally, I want to use the framed in effect of The Inset lines.(I think they are anyway) used on this Website, but I'm not sure how to add those wonderful curves to the insets. <P>And if I decide to keep the square edge how can I add the texture effect of my BG to the table edge.<P>Any assisitance will be GREATLY appreciated.<P>------------------

To get the X and Y where you want it, click on the "info" tab on the top pallet. Just move your cursor until the coordinates read X: 12, Y: 11, and click. voila.
I'm not sure what you mean by the "framed in" part, so I can't help you there.<P>------------------

OK, I know what the first bit is, it all has to do with the 'units' you're using. The default is inches or centimeters or something else equally useless for web work. Open up your preferences, there is a section marked "Units & Rulers". Open it up and set your default unit to "Pixels". All will now make sense, I'm betting. (Look in the info pallette, it'll display there, as that Lunatic DL-44 pointed out.) <P>Your pal, -doc-

Okay, here's how I do that framed in Inset deal:
Make a new image, large enough to have planty of workspace.
Fill the background with color/pattern of choice.
Make a new Layer.
Make a rectangular selection in the middle, the size you want your frame. To round the corners, go to "Select >> Modify >> Smooth" and enter whatever number gives you the curve you like. Fill the selection with the same color/pattern -- don't deselect yet.
Feather the selection by 1, and inverse it (Select >> Inverse).
Nudge the selection down 1 pixel and left 1 pixel. Go to "Image >> Adjust >> Brightness/Contrast" and increase the brightness 100%. Nudge it back up 2 pixels and right 2 pixels. DECREASE the brightness 100%.
Now, select the Layer 1 Transparency. Set your foreground color to Balck. (make sure "preserve transparency" is NOT checked) Stroke the selection, 1 pixel thick, outside. Deselect.
Now, select the Layer 1 transparency again, feather it by 1. Go to your Background layer, and nudge teh selection down 1 and left 1. INCREASE the brightness 100%.
Back Up 2 and right 2, and Decrease the brightness 100%.
That should give you the effect you need. To use it on your web page, cut out the inset sections (top, sids, bottom) and set them up in a table with your text or whatever in the center cell (I can give you example HTML if you need it too).<P>Let me know if that helps you.<P>------------------

Thanks, DL-44 worked perfectly with a few minor adjustments. One problem though, If I wanted the inset color to be BLACK so that I have an inset outline effect, how much different would the procedure be cause my BG is an angular(-45 degrees) brushed metal effect(dark grey about 70%), so I need a strong black outline effect on the inset just like in the URL I gave you...
http://www.rainworld.com/oe_99/main.shtml <P>Oh by the way I'd appreciate if I could see your HTML example.<P>------------------<P>

Make sure the foreground color is Black when you do the stroke. If it's not strong enough, make it two pixels thick. Give me a few minutes and I'll give you some table coding.<P>------------------

usually when that happens it's because the size of the cell and the size of the image are not the same, or you haven't specified the needed "rowspan" or "colspan" for 1 or more of your td's. If you can link to the page, or post the html, I may be able to help. Email me if you need to: <a href="mailto: dl-44@snet.net">DL-44@snet.net</a><P>------------------
