Thanks for your help on my previous question. I do a lot of work with cosmological images, space & starry backgrounds. To get the effects of a glowing star, the Lens Flare filter is usually the easiest and quickest way to go. But the problem I have is with the 'trails' that it also creates, that radiate from the actual light burst. Is there any way to get rid of these without having the filter turned down so dim that it is barely visible? I've tried using the Lens Flare on a clear layer so I can paint it out, but the filter can't be activated unless on a layer with graphics. Help!
Someone who thinks logically is a nice change to the real world.

Make a new layer and fill it with black. Set the blending to screen, and then put your lens flare on the black. "Screen" will cut out all the black and let everything else come through.
What care I how time advances? I am drinking Ale today. -- Edgar Allen Poe

Yep yep, that's actually the ONLY way I use lens flare, on a black layer set to screen. Now you can come in with a black airbrush and remove the annoying trails if you need to.
