Ok those boards on the photoshop windows in maroon on your tutorial are the just drawn on by you? Or is it really like that some how for ya? If so how?<P>

It's a Mac thing. Although there was talk in another thread of programs that will let you skin Windows as well (the "linux/x-windows" thread) <P>

I think it's done with a shareware extension for Macintosh called kalediscope, right? It's not exactly a "skin", and it's an altogether different thing than the unix customizability, but it is pretty snazzy!

You're correct! That is a Kaleidoscope scheme called "Dragon" by Layne Karkruff...good guess. I believe that was a joint venture with Richard Bensam, and comes with a series of custom icons as well.
