i think it's purty.. lime green, woohoo.

the only thing is the white drop shadows are too big and harsh. i might even try eliminating them, or just find another way to approach that.

looks cool though.

Looks like they made 1 layer that was a darker green oval. Then use the type too put in the asterist, next render, and combine the layers, delete the asterist shape. finally a strong lighting effect(may have used some glossen blur first on a seperate channel). ?), to give it the the nice white contrasting glow.

I then think a second layer was put ontop of the first, it is a lighter layer(lime green). Then the type tool would be used again to make the asterist shape. Then render layer combine the layer, delete the asterist so that it is see through, another strong lighting FX was then applied (with glossen blur).

Then it is a matter of nudging the top layer until it matches up nice, so to give better depth. Combine the layers, and use a slight glossen blur to get rid of the edges (maybe apply only to the sharp edges).

Then again I could be completely wrong, haven't tried it, doing this just from looks...

I didnt want to start a new thread for this but how do you actually make the transparent text? I can do the lil gel pill no problem and those oval buttons are easy too. But since text isnt a shape like a circle or oval its a little different, can someone advise?

1)Create the shape using the type tool. With anti-alias turned to none.

2)Next render that layer.

3)Select the shape with the cool selection wand.

4)delete the area on all the layer you have.

Here's a tut i started a while back ...i tried to isolate the transparency technique.........rather than incorporate it into another "effect tut".
A comment by Steve (Stevestah) inspired this approach.
Does it work ?
I'm trying to take the guessing out of using the curves...
hope this helps

Nice one, r@m!! Nice images and nice technique. This is the ideal situation for a curves adjustment layer, since it potentially takes so much fussing to get it right. Tanks for taking up the adjustment layers crusade with me. Now if I could only convince people to use layer masks more......

Only 1 points I would make to the (very nice) tutorial for clarity: be real careful to keep the words inverse and invert distinct and different: after you have blurred the channel, you don't want people inverting anything or you'll get wacky emails

Nice r@m......I've been working on my glass tecniques lately, been playing with curves a *lot* too, but in different ways. Maybe if I get it nailed down i'lll write my methods <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

What i do is i make a layer with what i want to be glass and then i make another layer on top of the same shape filled with 150/150/150 and then i do a layer effect of an inner bevel angle -35 depth is quite high and then the blur is about 5 pixels more then the depth and i make the blend mode of the black part of the bevel to screen (so it doesnt show). then i change the layer blend mode to overlay. then i make another layer on that one of the same shape filled with black and do a layer effect of an inner bevel of the angle 135 and the depth and blur same as the other one, then i change the layer blend mode to screen. thats it. sometimes though i make another layer of the same shape filled with black and blend mode screen and do a lens flare in the upper left corner (all a matter of preferance)
