mkay say if i were to have a button kinda
like the tutorial "glass" (just not clear) and the button uses blur and light fx to make it look like it iz 3-d and popping out.

Now how do I make it look like it sucked in?

well, I'm confused. What do you want sunken in? The text, or the button itself? Are you looking to make something look embedded? or do you want the button to look like it's being pushed in on a mouseover?

Try reversing the "White is high" checkbox in the Lighting Effects.

I tried reversing it and it came out really f'ed up. The sides stsrted out just like before but the top was flat!

Then leave it how it is, and ctrl+i (inverse colors) your channel that you're using for the 3d effect <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

I must be a retard or something... I inversed the colors and tried and it came out the same as b4!

Then do what I do.. airbrush it down. Make a selection of what you want to be lowered, then set the brush to a very low pressure (7-10% works) Paint black on the top half of the selection, and white on the bottom half. Then, set the brush to around 30%, and paint a black rim on the top, and a white rim on the bottom.

What are you trying for? If you let me know, I will give you far better advice than what has been offered so far (yes I *do* know that sounds arrogant...but it's just honesty).

So....explain what you're trying for....

I guess i kind of got it dl buthow did you do the effect on your sig where its all **** looking???

Which part? Can't say for sure which word you tried to use...

If you mean the text, I just added some outer bevels (select the shape, INVERSE the selection, feather by 1 or 2 pixels, move down and right 1 or 2, increase brightness 100%. Move up and left 2-4 px, decrease brightness 100%) and put a pic of space from the hubble telescope overlayed over that layer. and a lens flare or 2.

If you don't mean the text, just ignore all that <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/tongue.gif">

For DL's sig, he just used a drop shadow coming from the top overhang, and shadowed the top of the whole, while highlighting the bottom (presumably with an airbrush). Then he just put the other layers behind.
