I need to make a logo for this site... This is my first try,

I also have a fallow up question to that. Should i lower the opacity of "network" or should i leave it as it is?

Color scheme is terrible. Baby blue, red, yellow, and black? Other than that, it just doesn't look professional. I can't put my finger on it why, but it just doesn't. Sorry. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/frown.gif">

Personally, I wouldn't use bright red or yellow in the first place, and I particularily wouldn't use them together.
Then again, I like my designs to be cleaner then other people do. If you really like the red and yellow together, just keep it off that bright blue background.

well the site im doing this for, wants a logo that resembles there name(Game Happy).So I think a logo with bright colors instead of something that looks gloomy would fit what they are looking for.

BY the way, whats this liquid thing?

Everything I say, I'm trying to help you. I give you my opinion, whether it be positive or negative. You don't have to take it to heart, it's up to you. If you need to keep a cheerful theme, there are ways of keeping one without using those colors. For example, designsbymark.com, happypuppy.com, etc. I definitely think that a crisp image, rather than a blurred one, will help you in attaining this feeling.

Personally I think it looks fine on the grey background. The question is how it fits in with the rest of the pages around it...

The motion blur on Game Happy bugs me. I like the two text treatments a lot, and I personally like the more subdued background, but out of context with the rest of the page it's hard to say. But a blur for no other reason that just doing one more treatement to a graphic takes away from the strength of the graphic I think. Makes the words harder to read and there's no intrinsic reason for a motion blur. I think it would be "happier" w/o the blur, just clean and crisp.

OK well most everyone said the blur looks bad so i took away the blur and this is what it looks like now.
is there anything else i shouls do to it?

I'd add a little cartoon mascot or a logo of some sort.

hmm, yea a cartoon would look nice in that. Only thing is i've never done cartoons or anything related to that in my images. Do you know where i can find a tutorial that can help me out with that?

OK, I got the basic logo that i need. Now what i need to do is add a cartoon to it. Can anyone help me with that part. Because i have no experience with creating cartoons and puting them in my work. THe logo looks like this right now:

I could perhaps help... name a cartoon and.... err yah. Hehe, doh. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">Btw, beveling over and over isn't the way to go. I'm not sure if this would work, but you could try a solid color fill on the happygame. Gradient it from top to bottom (with red and black) and then outline it with black. Just my opinion, but the blurry junk outside the black outline really bugs me. BTW, mascot can be just a smily face. Marquee tool, fill with yellow, apply a slight edge bevel. Presto!

OK well i tried to do exactly what you said and this is what i came up with. I couldnt find any space for the happy face, but thats the best i came up with. Tell me what you think...

I told you before I wasnt thrilled with the bevels and at least you did clean up the motion blur a little. Im just curious, you said you were making a logo for the site and thought brighter colors would work better because of its name. What are the actual colors from the site? If your making the logo for an existing site or one that already has a layout then use the color of the site and try something. I think you should get rid of any motion blur your going to use. Listen to what Eviltoylet was saying. Try and make something simple because IMHO simpilar logos usually just look nicer. Theres no need to go crazy with bevels, motion blurs and cartoon characters.

the happy face looks a little odd to me. There is one in Wingdings that might work better. I think its the equivalent of a Capital J.

YEa i know, but i used GAME HAPPY just to start it off. I emailed it to the guy and i wanted to know if he liked it. If he does then ill just change it around. Nice logo tho. But with the logo im doing, i dont want to put anything realistic in it like bullets or people or anything like that. What i want to do is have a futurastic sort of design. THe thing about this contest that i don't like is that the logo has to be 500x500. I've never done anything that big so its going to be very hard. Good Luck!
