Make a line of width 5 or whatever width you want the stripes to be. Select a piece of the stripe, and make the height of the selection 10, or double whatever width of stripe you want. Then go to Edit, Define Pattern, then deselect and go to Edit, Fill, and Select pattern from the drop down menu. |

But, of course, if you just need the image to use as a background for a page, you only need a small image that will tile to create the stripes. |
