Have any of you guys come across this before.. . .
I normally set my preferences so that when displaying a brush, it shows the actual size of the brush I'm using instead of that crappy paint brush mouse pointer thingy. Yesterday, it would only display a very small cross-hair kinda thingy, even though in the preferences the brush size was still set to "precise". I tried closing down photoshop and rebooting, but nothing changed, I can't get it to show me my real brush size.
Is this a bug in Photosop?

it SHOULDN'T be set to precise. that's how you get the crosshair. try pressing capslock to cure it.

Yes! Kudos to mahjqa, I remember the first time that happened to me, it took *ages* before I stumbled onto the stupid caps lock being on, heh. It's probably mentioned in the manual somewhere, somewhere.

As far as I know, PS 5.x has no bugs of any kind. (at least that I'm aware of) I'm not sure about PS 6.0 yet though. Must get it first.
Oh yeah, for those who don't know (or haven't figured what kudos, meds and/or other things may be, check the Definitions list (not an official part of Ozones)

While I'm at it, I'm promoting The Atrocity exhibition which has next to nothing to do with photoshop. I just like to get there. Make sure you visit the 'features' (skull icon) part. Lots'a interesting stuff to read.

(oh yeah, I have NOTHING to do with this site other than that I think it deserves more hits than 4 a day.)

did this post make sense? no. Do I care? a little. What's the speed of an unloaden swallow?

I think PS 6.0 is a buggy piece of shit! There's a huge problem with the layers not being updated until they are moved. The thumbnails on the layer palette often show the same layer for all of them. Then there's the color dodge bug. Did I mention it runs slow as hell, even on a 1ghz with 256 ram? I switched back to 5.5 after using 6.0 for a few days. The features are nice, but it has a lot of problems.

heh, I've been using Photoshop since damn near the beginning, you'd think I'd know more. PS6 has to be the biggest improvement yet. I've yet to find any bugs, and if you read the manual it tells you how to set up properly to avoid the speed issues. As far as layers, this is a huge improvment over past versions. And the the color dodge now works correctly, it was wrong for a dodge in 5.5 and below. The thing is, this is a whole new program this time around. It's what Adobe has been working towards since 3. There are some major, major changes. It's gonna take time and usage to get used to it. I'll tell ya, don't drag your feet too long. You'll be left behind if you do.

Caps Lock !!!! F***ing Caps Lock !!!!!!

Where the hell does it say that in the manual!!!!!, I can't believe it, I am stunned, can't wait to get back home to try that, just to prove it to myself.

Damn stupid caps lock!!!!!! Caps Lock my ass!!!

EDIT: By the way, I didn't mean "brush size set to precise", don't know why I types that, I meant it was set to (whatever it should say, is it actual or something) I can't remember because I am at work but you know what I mean. Anyway the Caps Lock seems to be the answer.

Heh. That was my reaction too! Bloody hell. I frequently will go into my keyboard mapping and disable the stupid caps lock key itself, like I need to be SHOUTING all the time! (OK, I used caps-lock in order to do that SHOUT thing. Why don't they just call it SHOUT LOCK?)
