If I wanted to install photoshop on a number of different computers, would it be cheaper to buy multiple copies, or a multi-installation license from Adobe?

All depends on the number of comps and the purpose, no?

Personally I know it's a grey area...but if I have three comps (two in my home and a laptop) then I don't see a reason not to install the same copy on all three. It would be ludicrous any other way.

If it's otherwise, at work on a network etc. then, like I said..depends on the number of individual comps

Actually, I'm trying to come up with a budget for a game development enterprise.

So I need to figure the cost of multiple workstations for the artists as well as copies of photoshop and other progs. I was just wondering if I would get a better deal with a site license.

The site-licence would probably be the cheapest route, assuming you plan to be hiring people in increments of 5! For personal use, I wonder how many people have actually read their licence before ripping open the envelope? Adobe specifically allows you to install it on two computers, your primary work machine and your home machine. Cool beans. One of the downsides for me is that if you have two different OS'es (like me), you still gotta buy two copies.

I don't think I got that envelope with my version.
