OK gang, like a dumbass, when I installed PS 6 I checked yes to "Let PS 6 be your default file viewer?". Now, everytime a wanna take a quick glimpse at a pic, I have to wait for PS to load which is a pain in da rear. I've checked the file association settings in my Folder Options for Windoze 98 and it still lists IE 5 as my default viewer. It even displays the PS icon for all my pic files instead of their generic icons. Does anyone know how to get my original settings back?

To change which program starts when you open a file

1 In My Computer or Windows Explorer, click the View menu, and then click Options.

2 Click the File Types tab.
3 In the list of file types, click the one you want to change.
The settings for that file type are shown in the File Type Details box.
4 Click Edit.
5 In the Actions box, click Open.
6 Click Edit, and then specify the program you want to use to open files that have this extension.

******this is copied from the windows 95 help files.. not sure if it is the same in 98*****

EDIT: ok.. just checked in W98 and it looks like the similar method... the only other thing I can suggest or think of is too restore a previous backup prior to your install of 6 .. not sure if you have one or if that is possible even in 98?. i.e. you could restore your OS to yesterday if you had backup?.. never done it myself but its a thought!

While in Explorer, hold Shift and right click. A new option appears -- Open With, which is the one you want. The list of viewers will pop-up. If what you want isn't on the list, you can browse for it by clicking "Other". Also, you will want to check the "Always use this program" button.

I find this method a bit easier.

Both 95 and 98. Not sure about ME or 2000.
