Hey All,

Nice place you got here! Just signed up on the forum .

I have a question for you all.. Goto the following URL below:

I'm wondering how do you do the nice curves behind all the sport images? Does anyone know if there are any
tutorials that explain this? Hope someone can help. Thanks!

HI AgentX.. welcome to the Asylum...

if your talking about the curved brush strokes behind the images, they are likely created on a separate layer that lies under the images.

Not sure how familiar you are with PS (presuming you are using that graphics prog), but that image is more than likely created by placing the separate images on individual layers. Think of layers as a stack of tracing paper. Each layer can contain a different image and as you add layers they stack up on top of each other. Therefore if a layer above has a pic on it that is bigger or overlaps what is on a layer below it will cover it up or obscure it from view.

Those curved lines can be created many ways. Using the paintbrush tool, or the airbrush tool, by stroking a eliptical selection, by creating a freeform path and stroking it with a painting tool etc etc....

One of PS fundemental strengths lies in its ability to divide up information by using layers. Therefore you can place different images on different layers and maintian more control over these separate images. Because each image is on a seaprate layer you can then manipulate each layer independantly, change the order of the layers so different images appear above or below, or you can even change tthe way each layer interacts with other layers below my modifying the layer blending mode. The possibilties are nearly endless.

post back if this is not what ya meant its late here.. ~Vp~

Polar Coords? What was I thinking? Pure reflex.

Elliptical Marque tool.

Layer, do an oval, fill with favorite colour, Deselect, Gauss to taste.

New Layer, do a bigger oval, fill, deselect, another oval (smaller, but not as small as the very first), Delete, Deselect, Gauss to taste.

Rinse, repeat, fill in the blanks.

The white lines look like just plain ol' Strokes.

Elliptical Marque.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the welcome! Yes I do use Photoshop (version 6) and am familiar with layers . Would never use anything else but PS! I consider myself intermediate in skill level, but there's just so much to learn and so little time . Thanks for the tips guys, I'm trying them out right now . Will let you know of the results..

warjournal,

This is a result of using what you suggested and improvising a little. Don't know if I like it yet or not but we'll see. What do you think?

LOL That was funny, cyoung. If I only had a cookie to give ya.

AgentX, pretty good for a first, presented run. Looks a bit flat to me, but I think that's because there is only one crescent. Maybe a Free Transform to squish if it looks to round instead of oval. Actually, Free Transform might be just the thing to tweak and help set the base.
