now i have channels, because i have the gimp. Psp doesn't have them. What are they usefull for?

Used improperly you could inadvertantly destroy the world with them damnable things. Put them away before you put somebody's eye out.


On their most basic level they are used to save selections, but once you have tried the tutorials on Doc's site and the Guru's Network you will find that you can use them for some pretty cool stuff with the lighting effects and displace filter.

psp can save selections on the alpha channel but thats it. gimp has whatever ps has i think its channels r g and b.

i don't have lighting effects or displace.

I played with the gimp and was *very* impressed. They actually have a bump-mask filter that works much like Lighting effects, cool. They also have about a thousand of the simplest, stupidest looking filters in the world, please try and avoid them,
