hi guys !! i need a favour - i'm making a poster for my coll. festival - i need to know what precautions do i need to take 4 making graphics for print in ps 6 ???

There's a print forum you can post to so you might want to try there as well.

The only thing I'd recommend is to make sure you use a high resolution. You can always downgrade it later. Also, it depends on what colors you're using and how you're going to print it.

The first thing I would do is to do a ruff mock-up your design. Then go shoping for a printer.

Any output service or printer worth using should take the time to review your design and offer advice as to what should be supplied. Once you find a printer and have their output spec's you can begin to create print ready art.


Trust me this will save you time, money and sleep in the long run.

FWIT, you may not need that high a resolution for a poster. Because they're meant to be viewed from a distance, they can get away with a coarser screen than a magazine could. Still, I'll bet it's going to be a pretty big file.

Of your poster is going to have lots of type, consider something other than Photoshop. Good luck.
