OK gang. I went to a live show last night that involved a lot of fireworks etc. I took a lot of pictures and it seems that one was taken right in the midst of a fireworks flash. So, it seems I had a picture destined for the "Recycle Bin". Upon further inspection, I found that the crowd could be viewed at the bottom of the photo but, that was really it's only redeeming value. Tonight, I decided to pop into PS and see what I could do with it... I want to play around with polar coords and curves anyway.

THIS is what I came up with.

Keep in mind, this came from an otherwise useless pic and about 45 minutes of playing around. OK, enough of my yapping, what do ya think?

I like the original.

In you image, I would use the burn tool on the crowd to make it stand out a little ant use the dodge tool on the sworls (not including the area where the letters are) to push them into the background a bit.

Other than that I think it's a nice image.

I have unwittingly culled some detail.

I selected White as the foreground. Then I hit Image > Adjust > Color Replacer. Brought the Lightness all the way down to 0 and the fuzziness is somewhere around 90. Screen mode or something. I had an Asylum background behind it, but I stopped dinking with it once I noticed the detail that was brought out. I also flipped it horizontally.

My guess is that the flash was so bright, that it blew right through the poster board, hence backwards, hence flip horizontal.

I tried briefly doing it with Curves, but the difference is a little too tight for my tastes.

Wow.

Good stuff. I hadn't realized I had been filming nuclear warhead testing, although that could explain some of my mental instability since... hehe. Where's my black pills? Nice DB.

Anyway, WarJournal, most of the people who had signs there had things written on both sides so I'm not sure if the flash was so bright that it showed through the poster board. I could be wrong though. Good theory.
