OK, I set up an action for resizing/sharpening then exporting pics I took with my digcam. I am using that action to run a batch on the dir I save the images in then it saves them to another dir. Everything works perfectly except for compressing the jpegs. When PS saves them they are huge! i.e. > 200K |

When you record the action, do a Save As... or whatever and use the settings you want to use for all of them. That should be the last action in the action. Make sure the modal is set otherwise PS will prompt for each Save. You should be good to go. |

Yeah, I noticed a big difference in compression levels between (PS 6.0) 10 and 12 and (PS 5.0) 8 and 10. IMO, the quality isn't really improved much at the higher levels so the lower settings are much better. |

Can't you record 'save for web' at 50 or 60 (or whatever you like) into your action? |

JK - I think so. Just make sure your action contains the step of closing the original without saving changes, or at the end of the script the originals will all be sitting on your desktop. Save for Web works differently than Save or Save As. |
