'kay ive managed to scrimp up enough for a book or two on photoshop

now ive been hearing mixed reviews over stuff like the Photoshop Bible and Photoshop Studio Secrets.....some people claim that they are a waste of money and some people seem to swear by them....

HELP!!!

btw, im not looking for something basic...im trying to find something advanced...i know my way around photoshop

please help?

What do you want to do? There are some good "everything" books like PS Bible, but there are LOTS of good narrow spectrum books. Web graphics? Print? Fine Art/Illustration?

Well sort of a general design book i guess....with more of an emphasis on techniques?

I mean I'm doing a bit of everything - print/webdesign/etc right now...

photoshop artistry - haynes/crumpler - advanced - artists/photographers/production artists
adobe photoshop for photographers - evening - intermediate/advanced - aimed at photographers
photoshop restoration and retouching - eismann - intermediate/advanced - photo restoration
inside photoshop - bouton/bouton- intermediate - generic
teach yourself photoshop in 21 days - sams series - good introduction - generic/beginner
adobe photoshop for dummies - dummies series - basic introduction - generic/beginner

key things to concentrate on/learn: selections, channel utilization, colour adjustments, masking, layers.

I have classroom in a book.. excellent, Inside Adobe Photoshop 6.. also very good, and Photoshop 6 Down and Dirty Tricks... kinda like nicely printed tuts, most of which can be found on the web with a little looking- still a fun book though.

Well, I suppose if you're just looking for the everything type book your best bet would be to go with the Photoshop Bible. I've also been partial to the Photoshop 5.0/5.5 WOW book. I've never seen the 6.0 WOW Book (or even know if it exists to be honest.)
